Oops, that slipped to commit a bit too fast. Some more info: it should work by defaulting to word boundaries on click&drag, but switching to characters if the user jiggles the mouse or moves slowly or somehow like that expresses the desire to select to the character. RFEs are handled by Falko Tesch. -> Reassigned... I hope this time the issue gets reassigned... When double-clicking while selecting you get exactly the desired feature. Thus no changes will be made. Often people rather have a lot of problems fiddling around with marking only parts of words. As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate issues.
