Description issues@www 2000-12-17 18:14:40 UTC
I have two networked linux boxes:
* ppclaptop running debian
* PC running debian

I run my X display on the PC, and do most of my work on the laptop. Apparently
the setup program attempts to communicate with a *local* X server, but none is
running. It exits with an return value of 1, with no message after I accept the
license.

A temporary fix is to use Xvfb.

As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved
<wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for
details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.

This problem still exists (1.1rc2), though it's not well described
here. The issue is that the 'install' script (not to be confused with
'setup') requires the presence of an X server even though it doesn't
use one at all. This makes it hard to run truly unattended
installations. The workaround I mentioned (Xvfb) makes it possible,
but that really shouldn't be neccessary. Please reopen this issue.
