Here's what I get on my console when starting openoffice. Nothing actually 
happens on screen, but there's a lot of disk activity.

[bill@localhost openoffice60]$ ./soffice
SIOCGIFADDR got '00:00:00:00:00:00'

A little bit more information would be helpfull:
- which linux ditribution was used
- which kernel was used
- what kind of installation was made: standart or network

Dist Mandrake 7.2.
Running KDE 2.0.1 
2.2.17 kernel
Standalone notebook computer, 333Mhz Pentium.
It may be a memory problem -- my PC has 64MB.

Hello Bill,
I have the same linux distribution but it's PII-500 with 256MB memory.
Unfortunetly I can't split my memory. 
The machine with the lowest memory I can use was a P166 with 96MB memory and
SUSE6.4. I can't reproduce your problem.
Is there any chance for you to extend your memory to check out wether this is a
memory problem?

I've only got 64Mb on this machine. I'm certain it IS memory related. I've 
tried running OO under IceWM and Windowsmanager -- these both work. I think 
the issue that concerns me here is that earlier versions of OO could operate 
in 64MB.

I just downloaded and installed 614, and I'm having the same problem. My
computer has 128 Mb so maybe is not a memory related issue. I have SuSe 7.0 with
a 2.4 kernel.

Checked on a pc with 128MB and with suse7.1, kernel 2.4 glibc 2.2. 
-> OO614 runs fine.

Hi Bill,
some additional questions:
- Do you have a swap patition?
- How big is your swap partition?
- Is it possible to resize your swap? As far as I know, the swap should have the
double size as the RAM. When you have 64MB, it could be helpfull to have more
swap than 128 MB.
