Reassigned to Ulf Stroehler. First of all, sorry that this issue stayed as new without any evaluation for one week. I assigned this issue on 2001-02-23 with detailed comments but somehow this wasn't committed to IssueZilla. Trying it again: Regarding the description a possible cause is, that a corrupt font you were trying to preview in OO, crashed your fontserver (xfs) that crashed your X-Server. For font server problems grep your /var/log/syslog for "xfs" entries. Also have a look at /var/log/XFree86.x.log and .xsession-errors in your home directory. In case you are using KDE, you can also browse kfontmanager to find out if it crashes with one specific font. Having found a candidate that causes the trouble you may want to disable it in /etc/X11/fs/config. Another possible goes as follows: Your path to OO is very long. So the path to the fonts of OO is even longer. I remember a bug of X11R6 that long pathnames got cut of. In this case the X-Server gets the wrong path when trying to access a font and crashes. In this case you should crash with every OO-font. The workaround is to install OO with a short path relative to "/". Workaround: You can disable the font preview in Tools -> Options: Tree view branch: General - View: Checkbox: Preview in fonts lists But please try to find out what the real problem is along my last comment (see above). Problems are on "song ti" font. It's the original one' shipped with Mandrake 7.2. I have also a quite long path: [root@localhost dmo]# chkfontpath Current directories in font path: 1: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled 2: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled 3: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled 4: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1 5: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo 6: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/mdk 7: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/drakfont 8: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/pcf_drakfont:unscaled 9: /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1 10: /usr/share/fonts/ISO8859-2/75dpi:unscaled 11: /usr/share/fonts/ISO8859-2/75dpi:unscaled [root@localhost dmo]# Drakxfont can't display this font as it's "a 2 byte font". I think the problems is on this font. I look the log messages but i found no errors. Bye Domenico Mozzanica Please verify again in 625 (or above) and comment. Please verify again with the current version and comment, otherwise I close this bug as "does not occur anymore". Anybody who does not agree with this procedure? What are your findings? Does the problem still occur with a current version of OO? Please answer. Issue isn't reproduceable. closing |
