Description mroe 2008-07-16 13:36:10 UTC
The Language selector in the statusbar doesn't work like the other statusbar
fields. At the moment a left or right click onto it have the same result.

But IMO the language selector should work like e. g. the page style section, so
it is comprehensible and intuitive:
right mouse click: the selection list appears (like now)
double left click: the dialog appears, which is right mouse click -> more

SBA->mroe: Please see the corresponding spec.
http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/linguistic/Set_Language_Attribute_for_Text.odt

In this case it was intended to have the same effect for left and right mouse click.

But as discussed, it makes sense to easier change the entire document at once.
As you said, the unexperienced user runs risk to set the language paragraph-wise.

Via menu: Tools-Languages, "paragraph, current selection and "All text" is
offered, it sounds feasible to have these three on the first click (be it left
or right) in the statusbar control, too.

In total, this is a request for a UI change, so I set this one to feature and
confirm it.

SBA->FL: I propose to re-think the current spec/implementation. Reassigned to you.
