Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 103962
fonts with names containing commas or semicolons are ignored
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:33:09 UTC
I just installed a new font. It shows correctly in MS works, but in openoffice writer it shows as a plain simple font. The font is truetype. I have exammples to show but there isn't an attach file button on this page.

I can confirm the bug with OOo3.1.0 and DEV300m53 on WinXP. The font is correctly installed. It shows correctly in Word, MS WordPad, MS FontViewer and the old charmap.exe. But OOo does not show it nor does it use in pdf export.
@HDU: Please have a look. Confirmed on Vista too.
Font lists in OOo use commas or semicolons as separator between different font names of descending. This concept is similiar to one described in http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/fonts.html#propdef-font- family The special meaning of these separator chars causes trouble when one of the font names contains them (e.g. "Action Is, Shaded JL"). Since neither "Action Is" nor "Shaded JL" fonts are known a substitution font gets used. There are different approaches to solve this issue: - edit the font by renaming to something without special chars - don't treat a comma as separator char (this will probably cause problems for some imports for e.g. HTML) - a font name matching up to the separator char is sufficient
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
