Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 115600
Check spelling for text boxes
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:32:29 UTC
Dear OpenOffice developers, I've found what can be described a nonsense for OpenOffice Draw. The Draw essence is to allow you to create publications too. This with many text boxes. For this reason, think about advertising but publishing too, it makes no sense to be obliged to set one language for the entire document. Let say I'm writing one brochure with four languages on it. Each paragraph is repeated in English, French, Italian and German. Now what? Why do not have a Check Spelling at least Firefox/Thunderbird stile? Where ever am I writing, I can switch between languages and highlight wrong words for that language. An immediate and intuitive right click inside the chosen text box with a simple "language" menu item with a simple sub-menu with the loaded languages list where to choose the wanted one. This mean that if I right click, I goto "Languages..." menu item and I choose english, immediately all the non correct english words are red-underlined , right after this "english" check, I right click the same text box, I goto the same "Languages..." menu item, I click on the italian language and all the non italian words get immediately red-underined... and so on: on-the-fly. Hope this gives you the idea, Anyway, the actual setup it is really tricky. Thank you Robert
Language is a character format. Just select the text and use menu item /format/character/ tabpage 'font' dialog item 'language' and you're done.
Thank you JA, looks like it works, but the location for such kind of spell highlighting it is in a total-no-sense position. As a matter of fact, I've set the issue as enhancement. I thank you so much for the tip, but in the mean time I renew my tip to openoffice staff <<Why do not have a Check Spelling at least Firefox/Thunderbird stile?
