Description trebly 2011-01-04 23:18:21 UTC
Hi,

The title is quite sufficient, but as there are secondarily problems of the same
type... :

1- When you are conceiving an animation with effects, you can check the option
"show immediately the result" (after clicking the effect, or parameters
obviously...) :
This is quite operational for the effects choice but not for the change of the
speed. You need to unchek the automatic mode (if not the speed is reset to
default value), validate and test normally (run show).

2- the automatic show needs sometimes several click to start to see an effect
and always at hight speed (default) (need between 1 to 3 click on the option for
the automatic show of the slide to start)

Best regards

Trebly

I am not sure if I understand you correctly. Please add a step by step
description. Where can I find the "show immediately the result" option? Thanks.

Hi,

As I don't use the english version (it should be useful to change it, may be but
I don't know how - moved (by my decision) from MS PPT to Impress yesterday and I
must end a presentation for tomorrow (nota : I am into the dev.team of tiki, and
the GUI of the product can be changed dynamically).
I imagine that the right expression in english is "preview automatically", this
check is into the "personalized animation" panel opened by "add" or "modify".
The effect is that on the main view (conception of the slide occurence) the
concerned object appear immediately animated with the effect when the option is
changed.
For example if you change from "open from shade with zoom (my translation)" to
"develop" (group "special" - in french) you will see just after the click the
effect.

I mean that
1- when you click on a new choice of effect or repeat the same, the speed
parameter is always set to fastest (very quick) before the automatic preview.
2- when you change the speed of the effect you have not any preview possbility,
    - the change of speed don't activates the preview
    - if you click the effect the speed is reset to fastest

Then the lonely way to see the effect at another speed than "fastest" is to run
the "show" ("diaporama" in french)

Sequence on an existent effect :
1- click change
2- this opens the panel "personalized animation"
3- imagine that the speed is "medium" and "automatic preview" is checked
4- you have no access to the speed box till you have not clicked on the current
effect option or another to test it
5- When you click on the option :
1- the speed changes to "fastest" (or synonymous "very quick")
2- the effect is applied at fastest speed
6- to see the effect at another speed
1- don't test (see nota, I just discover)
    2- change the speed
    3- validate
4- choose "read" or "diaporama" for all the objects

Nota : this may near from the solution : I found something curious : the speed
changed to "slow" seems not to have been validated when I ran the effect may be
after the first change ? What's sure is that on two lines with medium the first
after my test was to fastest and the second at the right value. It is after the
second change (modify) without testing that the speed come well.
This make me thought that may be if we are in automatic preview and you have
tested by a click (which set "fastest") the change of the speed is simply never
validated then the preview neither runs by a change of speed.

Best regards

I think I have observed the same bugs on my system and as Trebly mentions above.

Issue #1
The selected speed is not reflected in the slides after second edit (same as
Trebly's last note)

How to reproduce
1) Create a new slide with title and content
2) Select the content area
3) Enter 1 line of of text (any text)
4) Go to menu "Slide Show" -> "Custom Animation" (or select "Custom Animation"
from the Task bar, if already visible)
5) Click "Add..." to open up the Custom Animation dialog
6) Make sure "Automatic preview" check box is selected
7) Select "Fly in" animation
8) Click "Ok" to close dialog
9) Click "Slide show" to view the animation and the speed ("very fast")
10) Click "Change..." to open the dialog again
11) Select the "Fly in" animation again (in order to be able to change speed)
12) Set speed to "Very slow"
13) Click "OK" to close dialog and update speed setting
14) Click "Slide show" to view the animation and the speed
Note that the speed is much slower then step 9
15) Click "Change..." to open the dialog again
16) Select the "Fly in" animation again (this will default the speed setting
back to "very fast")
17) Change the speed back to "very slow"
18) Click "Ok" to close dialog and update speed setting
19) Click "Slide show" to view the animation and the speed
Expected Result:
- Speed of "Fly in" is "very slow"
Actual Result:
- Speed of "Fly in" is "very fast"

Notes:
- I have not tested this with other animations or other timing settings. I have
however tried to repeat steps 15 through 19 and the problems seems to persist. I
have not tried other steps besides 15 through 19, though.

Observed on the following two systems:
1) Ubuntu 10.10, 64bit, kernel 2.6.35-25-generic with Open Office:
OpenOffice.org 3.2.1, OOO320m19 (Build:9505), ooo-build 3.2.1.4, Ubuntu package
1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1.1
2) Windows XP SP3 with Open Office: OOo-dev 3.4.0, DEV300m99 (Build: 9570)

Issue part 2:
In the custom animation dialog, automatic preview only works for the default
speed setting for each animation (same as the original bug from Trebly).

Seems to be a duplicate of Issue #45966
