Description hanspl 2011-02-03 11:55:43 UTC
Opening a document and the new print dialog: If I have several printers
installed (in my case, 11 printers) and the current printer is after the 4th
place, I cannot see which one is currently selected and must first scroll the
list. I may not click into the list (would change the selection), I have no
hotkey to show it up.

In the new print dialog, the printer list should auto scroll to the currently
selected printer so to show it up.

maybe this is a dup of:
changing windows default printer not reflected in open document

No, it is not.

This is not the question "when and how sync per-document settings awith per-computer settings"

This is local misfeature of OOo-styled print dialog (or, from different angle of view, global misfeature of the listbox widget, used in the dialog)

It does not matter what printer is default and so one - it only matters that user should see on which printer he gonna print now.
Current dialog hides this info from user and confuses user for quite a while.

User-friendly listbox should auto-scroll to the currently selected item, until user manually overrided it (obviously: if dialog is just opened, user could not and did not overrided auto-scroll yet)

This is how dialog is rendered now. Which of 4 displayed printers would document go to ? Non of that ??? where is my document ???...

It does confuses users, though might sound silly.
