Description zhongqiyao 2011-11-21 07:16:24 UTC
Version: 3.3
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7
Language: Chinese (complex-character OS, also known as traditional)
Display Setting: Display > Customise (Personalise) > Medium Fonts
(This is equivalant to Windows XP > Control Panel > Settings > Advanced > Large fonts; *not* the "Large fonts" on the Windows theme/scheme selection)

Although the user is warned when selection "Medium Fonts" that some
windows may exceed screen size, the programmer (i.e. OpenOffice)
should support this user option as much as possible, instead of leaving
the user with a "crippled" OpenOffice whin the user usually work in
"Medium Fonts" display, e.g. to make the eyes more comformatable, for
"Medium Fonts" in indeed an obvious user setting.

1. Use a computer with 1366 (or 1280) by 800 pixel display.

2. Dock the task bar in its default bottom position.

3. Set display to "Medium Fonts".

4. Open "File > Export PDF".

5. Otherwise, open "Edit (Search) > Find > More".

6. These two dialogs exceed the bottom of the screen. They should be reformatted to a more "wide" aspect, instead of a more "tall" aspect.

7. Please make sure that other dialogs also don't have this problem.

Thanks.

The monitor is 1366 by 768 pixels, with the task bar normally at the bottom,
set at "Medium Fonts" (125%).

Regarding:

7. Please make sure that other dialogs also don't have this problem.

8. Under 130% font size (medium fonts is 125%),
even if you move the task bar to the left to "expose" more screen height,
the dialog "Find and Replace > More" also exceeds the screen height.
It can also be reformatted into a more "wide" aspect than "tall".

Thanks.

In general, all "tall" style dialogs can be reformatted into a more
"wide" style layout.

Please note that I am not asking you to fix this problem under 130% font,
for this is not a common user setting.

However, if it is solved under 1024 * 768
screens, with the task bar at the default position at the bottom
of the screen, at 125% font (which is a user-selectable option in Winddows 7
as "medium font size", or Windows XP as "large font size"), then my
problem at 1366 * 768 screen, with the task bar on the left, at 130% font size,
will also go away.

My use of 130% instead of 125% is to avoid a Microsoft Chinese font bug
not related to OpenOffice.

Thanks.
