First impressions
-----------------
The summary was not addressing the real issue. The report is very short, and it did not explain the issue well. There were some steps given to replicate the issue but they were not sufficient. And there were no ideas for follow-up tests. Some more information has been requested from the author, but he has not followed up or responded to the request. There were no attachments added to the bug. (Neither created template nor screenshots)

Testing Configuration:
----------------------
My hardware configuration was as follows.
Open Office – Dev 4.0.1 (Build: 9714)
OS: Windows 7 professional 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 (2.67 GHz w)
Memory: 4 GB
HD: 148 GB (25.8 GB free)

Replication:
-----------
I could replicate this defect. It looks like a gap and an enhancement.
Steps to replicate
1.Installed Open Office
2.Open Impress
3.Create a new presentation and save it as an “ODF Presentation Template .otp” under a folder. (Try to save it under a specific folder where you can reopen it easily later). I saved it as Template1.otp.
4.Close the template
5.Open the presentation wizard to create a new presentation. (Under File Menu -> New > Presentation)
6.Select “From template” in the first page of the wizard and select “Presentation” from the drop down list.
7.The previously created template (Template1.otp) will not be found here.
8.Unselect the “From Template” radio button and select “Empty Presentation”
9.Create an Empty Presentation.
10.Select “Slide Design” under “Format ” menu
11.Click “Load” button
12.Select my templates
13.The previously saved Template1.otp will not be shown here
14.Select presentation saved Template1.otp will not be shown here either

Bug 121973 follow-up
--------------------
-Testing on a different computer which has a different OS. (Different windows version/Mac/Linux) To make sure error is common to other platforms as well.
-Reading documents related OO Impress and its features, and templates work.

Summary
-------
This defect is related to Templates created by users. The templates created by users can not be found under “My Templates” when formatting and a new presentation. And they are not available under the Templates used in “create new presentation wizard”.
Impact
An average user or user who is familiar with Microsoft Powerpoint will get confused when they want to use the templates created by them. This defect has an average impact as most users well as organizations use personal/organizational templates for creating presentations.

Alternative Solution
-------------------
Users can find the templates created by them under the following area. Under presentations, in the first page of the” New Presentation wizard”. (But not under Templates where an average user or user who has Microsoft PowerPoint exposure would search) And once a user has started creating a presentation, Impress will never allow him to change the template to one of his previously created templates.

I want to update my comment (Comment 2 made on 2013-11-17 01:46:18 UTC )

The Comment 2 has some additional information, which I did not want to include to the comments. But accidentally I added them and I noticed that I could not remove them after wards.

Hello,

If you want to see your templates created, you only need to put into the templates folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice 4\share\template\en-US\presnt
Note: Thispath depends of the language.
