While moving styles form one document to another using the template organizer the source style list sometimes becomes black. The effect occasionally appears within the target style list too.

I was unable to replicate this bug on Windows 7. I am running Version 4.0.1-dev. I would like it if you could provide a more detailed instruction on how to produce this bug, specifically what you do in the Template Management window.

Steps attempted:

1. Open Template using File -> Templates -> Organize
2. Double click on My Templates
3. Double click on Test Template that was saved before this
4. Double click on Styles
5. Attempted to drag and drop Default, Heading, Text Body ect, into test document

No black box.

I'm meeting with Tyler to review this bug on Windows 7. Our question is whether the Mac problem also appears on Windows. I am working with the current version of Win 7 and AOO401m5(Build:9714) - Rev. 1523756
2013-09-16 20:50:21 (Mo, 16 Sep 2013)

We created a document that had lots of styles, saved it as a template to My Templates, then created a new file, added some text and did his Tyler's steps 1-5. We did these steps a few times (copying files from the template to the file) and Tyler previously did this repeatedly for about 10 minutes. We didn't see a problem.

We also tried saving the document as a template .ott but in Documents, so that it appeared merely as a document in the Template Manager dialog. Then we moved (drag/drop) style definitions from the original document to the new one. That worked too.

We note that the original report is of an intermittent bug, so our tests do not rule this out as possibly being on Windows, but from our tests, it SEEMS not to be present on the Windows platform.

I also have tried to replicate the bug on Windows but have been unsuccessful. I am using Windows 7 and Open Office 4.0.1, Build:9714 - Rev. 1524958. I followed similar steps taken by Cem and Tyler, first creating and saving a document with a lot of styles to My Templates and then attempting to drag a section of the Style to a new document. No visible glitches during this process.

This happens on OOo 4.0.1 on MacOS 10.9.1. Test on a Mac and you will see - just follow the steps you outlined and it will likely happen. It did to me and I saw essentially the same thing (screen shot attached).

1. File -> New -> Templates and Documents
2. Click the Organize button at bottom
3. Dbl-click a template on the left until the styles list opens up
4. Do the same with a file on the right
5. try to drag a style from the right to the left. Get a window such as the one in the screen shot.
