install never finishes/hangs

The "registration of components" never finishes. The blue strip still runs. I.e. there is no complete hang. Hi Eric, sorry to say but I can't reproduce your problem. Setup runs without problems and office starts. A little bit more information could be helpful to see if this problem depends on special configuration: What hardware do you use? What's your OS?
Solaris 8 (fresh install from the jumpstart server), Ultra 5, 128MB mem, plenty of HD, DNS and YP, installation is on local disks (i.e. no NFS). Install running as non-root user. I would have thought pretty standard really. What other info do you want? What do you make out of the info from the truss?
