Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15498
Change default for page style order: Left Page should follow Right Page
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:42:31 UTC
The current defaults in the page styles need adjusting. Currently, "First Page" is set to be followed by "Default", "Left Page" by "Left Page", and "Right Page" by "Right Page". In use, "Right Page" should be followed by "Left Page", and vice versa. I suggest that these should be the defaults on installation. Can this be changed ASAP? (Before 1.1 Final would be nice...)

SBA: Adjusting Summary to reflect the findings. Workaround: One has to connect the left and right page styles in the desired way and then save that document as default template. Note: The "risk" is that by applying one page style (i.e. "left page"), the other one will be applied automatically to the document. There is some users who like to read a page or two before ANYTHING happens autiomatically. Yet others expect things THEY prefer and expect to happen silently in the background without a single dialog ever...

I think that the default should be left followed by right followed by left as this is the most logical way pages are layed out and it is what most novice users would expect.
cmc->ama: is there a reason for the current page style system of left following left, instead of the suggestion here ?
Please, can anyone answer Caolan's question? ama? bh?
I do not think that there is a deeper reason not to change the page styles. In my personal opinion the proposed change is sensible. Of course this has to be done in a way that does not change old documents, but this should be doable. If somebody volunteers to change this behavior he will be welcome.
To mark this issue as one, everyone can take to work on, I put it on the owner requirements.
