Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 16448
there's no (trivial?) way to deident autonumbering
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:36:57 UTC
When using the autonumbering identation feature IE pressing 'Tab' and having the OOo automatically create a sub-section: --demonstration----------- 1. something [TAB] 1. subsomething [TAB] 2. another subsomething ---->can't create a 2. originally idented! --------end--------------- there's no way or maybe there is and I didn't know about it to deident a xertain reigon IE you've made a subsection like above now in the number three you want to go back to the original numbering theme and continue with a deidented 2.
with keyboard: use [shift] [tab] with mouse: use the white arrows in the object bar
Thanks. The delete button should automagically deident(ala shift+tab) the number. There's no reason whatsoever that the Delete key will delete the autonumber WITHOUT deidenting it. MSword also use backspace to deident the autonumber until it's completely deidented - then it deletes it. I think OOo also should do the same. Please let me know your opinion of the matter.
I think it is quite right as it is, because shift+tab is invers to tab and is exact in that way drawn on the key and so very logical.
mehlng->Regina: I'm sure it's logical to have shift+Tab deident things. I'm the last person who wishes to change it. However just like MS-Word does superbly we should allocate the backspace to work like shift-Tabl when in the first place of an auto-number. It's very logical, and except, there's no real use with it's current weird action now - deleting only the number and leaving the line idented. Please QA'ers respond to my plee, immitate MSword wise behaviour.

I'm going to change this to an enhancement request, since it appears to be so. I've had good responses on my own requests.
as I've seen comments reassuring bugs existence I'll confirm the bug.
