Last modified: 2004-01-15 12:31:09 UTC
[See also Issue 138] The attached openoffice presentation is 238k in size. when exported to powerpoint it's 79k when powerpoint re-saves it it's 14k - about 17 times smaller than the openoffice version
Created attachment 33 [details] 238k openoffice presentation file
Should have been for PC platform
in work.
When exported to ppt in the 632, the filesize has decreased to 19 KB, after re- save in Power Point the size is 14 KB. ->Sven: It is known, that there are differences between Impress and Power Point concerning internal handling of contents at saving. But how is above mentioned decreased filesize compaired with the filesizes in Jonathan´s description explainable?
Here a short explanation of the file sizes: The original Impress presentation has a size of 238kb and is much larger than the correspondent PowerPoint variant, because the document includes some unused ole objects that are not saved to PowerPoint. This will not happen in an actual version. Our new xml file format creates a presentation that is 11kb. The OO version 609 creates a PowerPoint document of 76kb because in that version is a bug that leads to document preview graphics of a minimal size of 64kb. That is fixed now, so that in an actual version the document is 19kb. (76Kb - 64Kb old preview graphic + small preview of about 7Kb = 19kb) The 19Kb document will be smaller when it is resaved by PowerPoint because they remove the preview graphic. ( I do not know why they do this and how this could been prevented ). Sven
SJ->CGU: This issue can be closed.
The bug is fixed in the meantime. I tested the fix in OOo1.1. change the resolution to fixed.
I close the issue as fixed.
