Description issues@www 2000-11-18 16:44:42 UTC
The sample file shows a some problems with importing paragraphs

1. In OpenOffice the paragraphs appear to gain white space after the numbers:
This is absent in the source text.

Reassigned to Michael Ruess, our Word filter specialist

This is not a Bug. WinWord has the option, to leave out the space between Number
and text even though the numbered paragraph is formatted with a hanging indent.
See in Word under Format/Numbering: set the option "Text after" to "Tabstop";
this is is the thing that happens in Writer. Writer does not support something
like "no text after Number".

> Writer does not support something
> like "no text after Number".

If we are claiming to be compatible with Word, should we not
support "nothing" as "Text after"?

Should it be a bug against the writer engine to support
"no text after" in order that the filter can set it?

Of course you are right. To grant compatibility here, an enhancement in Writer´s
handling with numbering has to be made. This is decided by the Product
Management, so I send this issue there.

Verified, it is a bug not a RFE
Comment 7 michael.ruess 2001-02-27 14:46:15 UTC
So the PM has decided to handle this as a bug, it goes to the development.
MRU->JP: First -I think- it has to be implemented by the application. Are you
the right adressee for this?
Comment 8 jp 2001-03-02 16:37:39 UTC
Michael describe this correct, the core can't handle WinWord options. No body
adds any space, the Wordprocessor show the number always in the negativ
firstline indent. And in this case the firstline indent is bigger than the
number.
This can't never be a bug, only a feature wish.
