In my opinion, OO file open and New/Autopilot behaviour is not accurate.

Suppose you open a new Writer window. When you press File/Open and open an
exisiting file, it displays the document in a new window. Instead, it should be
displayed in the very same window since the document in that window is not
edited yet. The same is true for New docs and for Autopilot.

This will prevent cluttering of the user's desktop.

My opinion: True.
Especially because it works when you enter a document's URL in the URL box.

Reassigned to Falko.

I'd like an option for this: "Re-use windows of unmodified documents"
or something like this.

Seems fixed in 641D. I tried the Linux version only.
Comment 9 falko.tesch 2003-10-15 13:47:45 UTC
If you open a document twice you open is twice, period.
We will not patronize the user for what he has to do with manyfold
opened documents.
