Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18300
Option to set a frame style in Insert > Frame
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:34:31 UTC
Custom frames are almost useless as Insert > Frame does not permit the user to select a custom frame style. There is a workaround, but it is very imperfect.

What I would like (in case it's being missed) if for the "Insert > Frame" dialog to have a "Based on <drop box> style" so I could pick my custom frame styles when I set up a frame. As it is now, I insert the frame, which automatically uses default styles only and then have to go in and manually change the style to my custom style. Unfortunately, this is not a one-step process, but a rather involved one.
Can confirm. While > Insert > Header shows a list of various styles to choose from, > Insert > Frame doesn't.
Sorry for the late reply. Pinkernell's description summarizes the issue for me.
I like the idea having Insert Frame like Insert Header. In fact, I think the dialog box should show at all when inserting frame. If you set up correctly frame styles, and if the frame style can be chosen at creation time, then it should be exceptional to need to modify the frame properties. When needed, you just need to double-clic on the frame, or to select Format > Frame.
