Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 198
File compression

I hope I'm writing in the right corner, but I've found something, that might be an interesting enhancement of the openoffice project. I found out that if you compress all *.dll and *.exe with udx udx.tsx.org a freeware executible compressor, you can save about 50% of size. The hole programm is runing well after compression. I think many people will like it if the program can reduce size a lot.
I communicated with the author of this issue on upx compressing, however, it does not seem to work in all cases: - after compressing .exe files in the installation (so under openoffice60 directory) everything is fine (we used the option -9 with upx). - further compression of all .dll files in the installation still results in a working office suite for Benjamin, but I could not reproduce this. I decide to finally close this topic as an issue and forward the suggestion of using upx to the mailing lists. armin
As discussed with Armin, he thought these bug were closed, he sees all of them as verified.
