Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 202
PDF Forms as wallpaper
Last modified: 2007-10-13 21:10:03 UTC
PDF forms are used my many institutions for many purposes: - tax forms - applications (brokerage, banking, etc) - etc. While filling out (by hand) a number of downloaded PDF forms recently, it occured to me that a really nice feature, IMHO, would be the ability to import a PDF form (as is, or pre-converted to an image) and display that form [image] as wallpaper. This would allow forms to be filled out more professionally and printed either together on blank paper, or only the fields onto pre-printed forms. Of course, such capability would be nice in the spreadsheet portion too. Also, the ability to use database fields to create multiple documents would be nice; though this would be a side-effect of existing features. Some organizations (NC Dept of Revenue) have PDF forms which have editable fields; but these "smart" forms are very few and far between. I would think such a feature would raise eyebrows. I would certainly make use of such a capability. Thanks!

Whereever a PDF is created that is supposed to get input the creator's have it in their hands to make it editable. A function that will emulate this behaviour afterwards is way to complex to program not to mention possible legal issues!
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
