Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2088
Ability to miniimize splash screen on load would be nice
Last modified: 2003-03-11 18:00:45 UTC
Open office takes a relatively long time to load. It would be nice that if during the load time it would be possible to minimize the splash screen so that you can continue to use other applications. As it is right now, during load time, the OO splash screen pretty much takes up the center of your screen and will not allow other applications to be in the forefront.
Reassigned to Christian.
May we could change the focus behavior.
Would it be possible to let the window manager have control of the window that the splash screen is contained in, This way the splash screen could be moved around the screen or minimized.
I agree that changing this annoying "always-on-top" property of the window can (should! :) be the solution. A splash-screen with a minimize button is weird - the real problem are applications which think their splash screen is so important that they do not allow the user to work with other apps while the splscrn is active. Unfortunately, OOo seems to fit into this category of way too egocentric applications ...
This issue is re-assigned to Christian Jansen for further evaluation.
