Description issues@www 2000-12-14 10:51:12 UTC
I tried to install openoffice build 613 with the /net option. The installation
proceeded fine, until it got to registering the components. There it just hung
and my systemload went up to about 8 and I had to reset the machine. I actually
wanted to kill the application, but processes like ps or top hung as well, all
other stuff worked just fine.
When I did a single user installation, everything went fine. By the way, both
installations were supposed to go on a local disk, no network involved. I even
tried again without network with the same result.
Exactly the same happens when I try to install StarOffice 5.2, which made me try
OpenOffice in the first place.
This strange behavior might have something to do with me updating my XFree86
4.0.1 with the latest DRI CVS code to enable 3D on my Matrox G400. Before that,
I was running StarOffice 5.2 without problems.
I think this is all the information, that comes to my mind right now, hope it
helps

Ralph

I also experienced a complete hang-up during the Registering Components
phase. This was on RedHat 6.2 Linux but with HelixGNOME instead of
standard GNOME and a 2.4.0-test8 kernel. The X server is still the
RedHat 6.2 default.

I was not attempting a network install.

Regards, Bevis.

Ok, I've tested version 641 C instead of 613 using Redhat 7.2 instead
of Redhat 7.0, but now everything works for me
