Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 23515
open file switches apps - it shouldn't
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:41:54 UTC
If I open calc (directly, not from soffice/ooffice) and I attempt to open a file named file.txt, it should either open the file in calc, or preferably, since it's not a native calc file type, it should open the file import dialog, much the way Excel does. The one thing it MUST NOT do (IM[NS]HO) is precisely what it does now, which is open the file in writer (or any other application for that matter). If the above is not possible, there needs to another option on the file menu called "import" which will do the above. To me, this is a fairly major impediment to my dumping M$ and using OOo for future work. I've flagged this as "platform PC" and "OS Linux" because that's what I use OOo on. I suspect that the same problem exists on all platforms.
TM->BH: This might be an enhancement or a wish for a new feature but is definitely not a defect. Please have a look, thanks !
Solution: Open Calc and use the option: Insert - External Data (Insertar - Hoja de archivo in spanish) The problem is the traduction in spanish, very bad. "External Data" must to be translated as "Importar datos"
