Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 26740
Index 'n Tables Dialog shouldn't overflow screen size with Preview enabled
Last modified: 2013-08-13 10:52:17 UTC
* I am using a 800 X 600 display. - Open writer > Insert > Index and Tables {see the screen shot of the dialog overflowing the screen} It would be nice had the dialog is limited to screen size.
The dialog fits into a 1024 X 768 display anyway. Can't it be spaced out from a rectangular form to square form. This will work for 800 X 600 display also.

On my system this dialog overflows screen size too. I have got WinXP. My screen is 1024x768 pixel with 125% of normal size in WinXP desktop "Properties of View". In OOo I have set the "User Interface Scaling" to 110%. I have weak eyes and this settings give me pleasant seeing. So for accessibility I wish, that the dialog shrinks to screensize or is resizeable. Now I can move it with the titlebar to see the wanted part, so there is a workaround. But when you will work on that dialog, you should consider this enhancement.
Now in 680m77, you have the preview option, which you could leave unchecked to avoid a preview and thereby a smaller dialog. Anyway I wish OOo should have a better replacement for this dialog.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
I rechecked this issue with Apache OpenOffice 4.0.0 on Windows 7. 1. I set the screen resolution to 800x600; the Insert Index/Table dialog is too wide for the screen as reported by the original bug submitter. 2. I then set the screen resolution to 1024x768 and the size of text and other items to 125% (Control Panel > Display: "Make it easier to read what's on your screen"). With these settings, the Insert Index/Table dialog is also too wide for the screen (see comment 4). So this issue still applies to the current version of AOO.
