Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 27807
background color changes after entering a second char when editing a cell that is selected
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:13:09 UTC
Please try the following: - Open an new spreadsheet - give A1 any background color, for example "Light green" - Select A1 (click into it while SHIFT holding down): Now the color is changed to purple, because its selected. That's OK. - enter ONE char (or digit), for example "a" (do not confirm): The color stays purple. - enter a second char or digit, for example an "a" again: Now the color is changed to green.... I can't see any sense in this behaviour. I think when editing a cell, the color should be immediately correctly shown. Even if you think about to keep this "selected color" for the whole editing process, I can't see any sense in changing the color after entering a second char.
(I have changed the prio down to 4.)
Hi Niklas, this behaviour applys also to OOo1.1.1 Frank
There is no need to set a special bg color. - Just select a cell (click it while while holding down SHIFT): The cell is black. - enter one char: The cell remains black. - enter another char: The cell is white. So I think this problem is not so "abstract" because no special bg color is needed to reproduce the problem ... It was my mistake that I have described the problem first with a special bg color.
Please forget the esntence: "Even if you think about to keep this "selected color" for the whole editing process, I can't see any sense in changing the color after entering a second char." I think you want to switch from black to white like Excel when editing a selected cell in order to make the input better readable. So the problem here is that the color is not switched before having entered a second character. You must switch directly after entering edit-mode.
typing error: "esntence" -> "sentence"
Another problem is that the (black) selection-color is not expanded with the cell when editing: - open the below attached screenshot - select A1 (click A1 while holding down SHIFT) - press F2 to enter edit-mode: Only the non expanded part of the cell is black. But this problem would also vanish, if you directly switch to the correct color after entering edit-mode, like I already have suggested in this issue.
