Description jimronback 2004-05-12 20:12:25 UTC
When a presentation with an odd number of slides is printed 2 pages/slides per
sheet and multiple copies are printed with "collated" selected - the first and
last page/slide appear on the same sheet when the second copy starts printing.
Thus the second copy does not start with the first page/slide at the top of the
sheet.

It appears that the "create single print jobs" does not exist for Presentations
and Spreadsheets (and perhaps other programs). This prevents just this kind of
problem in Writer.

Reassigned to Christian.
Comment 4 christian.guenther 2004-05-13 14:37:22 UTC
Please tell me where do you set the 2 slides on 1 page option.
Is it a printer option or do you set it in the office (e.g. the handouts in
Impress)?
Comment 5 jimronback 2004-05-13 18:16:42 UTC
I go to File -> Print -> Properties and select 2 per page -> OK
-> select number of copies = 2 and select "collate" -> OK (to print).
Comment 6 jimronback 2004-05-13 18:18:59 UTC
My printer is a HP Laserjet 1000
Comment 7 christian.guenther 2004-05-14 08:42:25 UTC
This is a feature of the printer and npt in the Offie. Therefore we can't fix
the bug.
I change the resolution to invalid
Please write a Feature (or enhancement) request for adding the "create single
print jobs" function in Impress, Draw and Calc, too.
A feature request is a normal issue with the issue type Feature (or enhancement)

Comment 8 christian.guenther 2004-05-14 08:42:51 UTC
I close the issue as invalid
Comment 9 jimronback 2004-05-14 21:05:37 UTC
I disagree with this issue being called invalid and closed. It is a genuine
defect that needs to be fixed and not a new feature that needs to be added.
Whenever collation was designed they forgot to handle mutiple copies being
printed for multiple pages per sheet where the page count is not a power of 2.
It's a legal fiction to say that a defect needs to be fixed by an enhancement.

I'm confused! Where is Writer located that does not have this defect? Is that an
old name for something else in OpenOffice?
Comment 10 christian.guenther 2004-05-19 16:13:57 UTC
Writer is the name for the text application.

I will have a look soon and compare it with older OOo and SO versions.
If the collate printing is broken I reopen this issue as bug and send it to the
developer.
If the collate printing doesen' t change it is an enhancement and I will send
this issue as enhancement to the user experience team.

OC told me that you manage the issues for collate duplex printing.
Please have also a look on this issue.

Changed Target
Comment 14 frank.loehmann 2004-10-04 15:48:10 UTC
changing the target did not work last time...
Comment 15 fbermejo 2005-07-27 21:24:38 UTC
I can reproduce the issue "printing" to a pdf file (using Acrobat printer
driver). This makes me think that the same will happen with any printer too. So,
I agree with jimronback that this is a defect and not an enhancement.
I attach the "printed" pdf file.
