Description Unknown 2002-01-23 07:32:57 UTC
Just to cap off the OS I have Win-95b with IE 5 & a few of the available
patches notably a networking patch, Y2k patch and the Winsock2 update.

The issues:
On doing a save-as (or saving a new document for the first time), and with Auto
file extension checked, the file doesn't receive an extension.

This is the same in the spreadsheet (haven't checked the pres or other
components).

And when I open help, then double-click a topic, the mouse pointer remains as
an hourglass.

Thanks a mill.

JA->TM: please have a look at it..
Comment 2 Unknown 2002-01-28 01:05:08 UTC
I also have both problems on Win 98 SE.
Comment 3 thorsten.martens 2002-01-29 08:19:08 UTC
TM: 2 different issues ! The first one (The one with the file extension) wasn`t reproducible when using an internal 641i !
However, there is a problem when changing the filter (filetype) of an existing file (with extension). In that case, the file
doesn`t get the correct file-extension. This is the "normal" behaviour of the windows system save-as dialog and can`t be
fixed. Just check it with other applications -> same behaviour.
TM->HI: Please check the 2nd one (Help-problem), thanks !

I check the previous version 638, it does not have the 1st problem.
Comment 5 h.ilter 2002-01-30 18:58:01 UTC
The second problem with the help is already existing as Task 2592.

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 2592 ***

I have the same problem with the save-as on Win95 PCs with 641C. BUT
no problem on Win2K PCs with 641C. Release 638 on Win95 PCs works
fine! Will this be fixed in next release?

Thank you,
Cheryl Belch

TM has already given a statement above.
Comment 8 thorsten.martens 2002-02-25 11:02:24 UTC
When using Win98 and the systems save/as dialog (the one you get, if
the checkbox "use staroffice dialogs" in tools/options/office/general
isn`t checked) saving files with automatic file extension works fine !
When using Win2000 and the systems save/as dialog all works like
mentioned above in my previous statement. However, the systems save/as
dialogs from Microsoft in Win95/98 and Win2000 are not the same and
acting in different ways, so their behaviour is also different ! But
that`s not a staroffice/openoffice problem, because ALL applications
are acting in the same way !
Needless to mention, that the staroffice save/as dialog doesn`t have
such problems !
