Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 29343
Feature request: section styles
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:37:42 UTC
Hello, It would be really nice if youi guys could add section styles to the program. Right now, if I have N sections (with identical properties) in a document it is very hard to modify them all. Thank you.
reassigned to bh.
This would be great! I find I am unable to use sections at all because of the impossibility of setting styles for them (my documents tend to be rather large and complex).
+1
yes, styles for sections would have been the perfect way to solve my problem with formatting for newspaper columns. http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=55292
The way I solved my problem back in 2004 (I wanted to migrate from 2 to 3 columns) was to unpack the document (it's just a zip archive) and mess with the XML. It was a simple search & replace. Fortunately enough, that didn't have any side effects.
Guess I just ran into needing to use section styles recently, but it happened to be the only logical solution to my document. Current workaround is similar to evilone's, where I unpack and manually changes the xml everytime I used it, but that gets tedious very quickly. (The document? currently at roughly 100 pages without columns, and that's only quarter of the original OCR'ed. I'm trying to mimic the original typesetting. That's 300 more pages to manually edit the section styles. I hopes this is fixed before I finished it.)
This is four years old now, any chance of it being implemented soon?
It would be very usefull to be able to change the number of columns on a same page (without using frames). Maybe it could still be the actual « page style », but with the possibility to not jump to the next page…
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
