Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 29900
Selecting a line of text when bullets used work incorrectly
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:41:28 UTC
In Writer, when selecting an entire line of text and the text has a bulletted format, you are unable to select the entire line including the bullet at the start of the line. The only way to select the entire line is to select past the end of line which then includes the bullet or formatting of the following line. There actually seems to be a general problem with selecting a line of text as you cannot select up to and including an end of line non-printing character without including the start of the following line, sometimes with adverse repocussions, however the above sample with the bullets is easily reproduced to get a gauge of the problem.
The "Numbering" as stored as paragraph attribute, thus it has not been intended to have a buulet selected together with text.
Selecting an entire line of text, including it's current format (albeit bulleted or not), to drag and move it to another location, to cut and paste it, etc, I presume is a standard feature of Oo (like any other Windows program works like in this situation). If this function is not working as intended which is what I have shown with the problem I have logged, then I believe that it can only be classified as a DEFECT not an Enhancement to the function. When you select an entire line of text in any windows program then aren't you selecting any fonts and any other format characteristics of that line? Then if so, bulletted lines should be treated in an identical manner. In addition to this, if bullets are not meant to be selected at all by what I understand of your reply, then this issue that I have logged is still a DEFECT, not an enhancement because as I have clearly shown, bullets "can" be selected. MSWord and Write for 2 examples work the way I would have expected it with bullets being part of the format specification of the line being selected therefore applying to the destination line when moved (dragged via mouse) or copy/cut and pasted.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
