System: MS WNT 4 SP5, MS Word 97 SR-2

Could not open different MS Word Documents via File-Open: Shortly the watch
occurs, nothing happens after this.

Moreover, open via MS Windows Explorer results in launching of a process
soffice.exe and nothing shows up or such, shortly: nothings happens but memory
and process space consumption.

Sorry, do not see any "spreadsheet" in my text.

Anyway, Word Processor is adressed and---as I see in the form I fill in just
now---met.

Are this ALL your Word documents? Please check, because I think it is due to
special documents you have. so please attach such a document which causes the
behaviour described by you. Thanks!

General problem with loading external formats. xls was also affected. This is
fixed in OO 614.

Due to the fact that this problem is fixed in OpenOffice 614 I close this Bug.
