Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 31327
tables in footnotes
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
I'm not sure whether this is actually a defect... It is not possible to insert a table into a footnote. You have to insert a frame and put the table into the frame. Is there a reason for this limitation or is it unintentional (menu/funtion disabled without reason)? To reproduce: Insert footnote. Try to insert a table as footnote-content.
That's right, inserting a table into footnote content has been forbidden. MRU->AMA: Can you please give a short comment on the technical background of this limitation before reassigning this RFE to Bettina? Thank you very much!
The only reason is to avoid loops. Layouting of footnotes is sometimes very difficult, layouting of tables, too. Together it's a high risk of loops. We could enable tables in footnotes with a few lines of code but the risk will be high that documents hangs. We're planning for OOo 3.0 a redesign of some important layout functions to get rid of layout loops. Then we could try tables in footnotes to test our new layout algorithmns.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
