Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 34998
Use a powerfull bibliographic database
Last modified: 2008-05-17 23:09:00 UTC
So far the bibliographic database uses one table. I think it would be *very* usefull to have three tables instead (author, journal, references, I think this is it, but I may spend some time on the DB design if needed). This would bring the following functionnalities: -allways the same spelling for one author, or one journal. -possibility of uses different "writing" of a journal name (or author name) for different bibliographic templates. Exemple: I need to use once "IEEE-UFFC" as the name of the journal, next time "IEEE Ultra. Ferr. Freq. Contr.". With a separate table I won't be obliged to change several hundreds of references. Even Better, the different writting could be part of the projection of the table journal into the Index Bibliography in my wordprocessor document. -not typing hundreds of time the same journal name (or authors). etc. Bruno D.
ES-DNW: Please evaluate. Thank you!
Bruno, Thank you for your interest and comments. The OpenOffice Bibliographic project at http://bibliographic.openoffice.org has plans to greatly improve the bibliographic database. A proposal to add a separate Author list was one of my first suggestions (see issue 4294)However as you suggest, other lists are required such as Journals and their abbreviated titles. The project would welcome your assistance with database design. I will set this issue as a duplicate to the head Bibliographic project issue, as database re-development is a issue already documented in the project requirements. Please contact me or the bibliographic project mail list if you would like to become involved. David Wilson *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 4260 ***
The Issue you raised has been marked as 'Resolved' and not updated within the last 1 year+. I am therefore setting this issue to 'Verified' as the first step towards Closing it.
