Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 37530
No encoding pulldown in save dialog leads to problems when sharing with windows
Last modified: 2014-04-04 10:21:17 UTC
When a Japanese document is saved as a text file, it is by default saved in EUC encoding which is Unix-centric. That means that if you are editing a document and send it to someone using Windows it will look corrupted (unless viewed in Internet Explorer). It may be logical since then you can edit the EUC file in say VIM but to be realistic, you really want a pulldown menu with the encoding selectable (i.e. EUC, SJIS, JIS ISO-2022-JP, UTF-8, etc.).
Most of my issues at: http://telebody.com/soffice1.html
reassigned to US.
US->BH: this is basically the same as internal #102270#. @submitter: > it is by default saved in EUC encoding Not exactly. The default encoding for text files is the desktop locale. And again as stated in a different task filed by you, select "Edit filter setting" in File/Save dialog to get the list of available Text encoding filters.
