Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 37817
Font control buttons behave poorly from side toolbar
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
With the default toolbar configuration (notably, the character button not visible in the format toolbar) 1.Highlight some text, right click, select font and change to Arial 2.Highlight some text, right click, select character and change the background colour. 3.Drag the format tool bar to the left of the page. 4.Select font name on that toolbar. The character property dialogue is presented with the background tab selected - the same is true if font size is selected. Recommendation - after moving the toolbar connect the font button to the 'right click select font' menu first used above, not to the character menu. Alternatively, reset the tab selection when the tool bar moves to the side (ugh?) Similarly font size. Incidentally, the right click menu when text is highlighted could also usefully have 'font name' rather than font as a legend. This release looks much better so far - well done everybody!
PS - on the moved toolbar, the style button now seems to be dead.
reassigned to ES.
ES->BH: when placed vertically, the Formatting toolbar (as well as others containing drop down listboxes) displays the Font Name and Font Size drop down listboxesas icons which slots open the CHaracter properties dialog. Could it be possible, for consistency and smoother work, to link each button to the dialog AND the corresponding tabpage (Font) ?
Issue 37918 raised to separate out the additional problem with the style button.
Confirmed with OOo 680m152, on XP SP2, PC. Problem still exists. I agree with the suggestion by 'es', would expect at least the toolbar to link to the correct tabs. Related issue 37918 appears to be fixed and has been closed. A small bug, the 'Font' icon is always highlighted when the toolbar is docked on the left hand side. Regards, Andrew
