Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 40615
AutoSave Prompt buttons should be inactive for a while to avoid accidental saving
Last modified: 2010-11-10 16:15:09 UTC
When AutoSave and Prompt to Save options are selected, o popup Save dialog appears in the desired time. While typing, there is the risk to accidentally Save a file by pressing the spacebar, while the window pops up suddenly. I believe, there should be a small delay of about 1 second before the dialog buttons become active, so as to become aware of the dialog box and stop typing.
framework issue.

Sorry for my persistence, but I believe that this issue is NOT a duplicate of issue # 4333. I am not talking about the lost key-strokes (which of course is an important matter), but for the danger of accidental saving of a file, when the save prompt pops up. For example, if I am typing a word containing the 'y' character, or pressing the spacebar, while the save dialog pops-up, the file will be saved, even if I don't want it to. My suggestion is that the dialog should pop up but remain inactive for some time, so as the user notices it's presence and stops typing, to avoid accidental saving. Of course, at this time of inactivity, buffering the characters can cover issues such as # 4333.
closing again: please *see comment from as Thu Apr 29* There will be a idle-check before the dialog will pop up. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 4333 ***
