Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 44754
Add ODBC driver for ODB.
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:34:09 UTC
I think it would be really great of the ODB format could be made ODBC compliant. This would open it up as a replacement for Access for many web scripts (e.g. ASP, ASP.NET)
confirming as valid RFE, and assigning to requirements evaluation team, according to http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling / "QA for RFEs"
Would be fantastic... I hop do you get an ODBC drive for ODB verry sun
you can use the ODBC driver of many DBMS. So I think we can close this isuue.
You mention you can use many DBMS drivers that will connect over ODBC, however I would like to convert my Access databases to ODB, then use ODBC to connect through to them which would replace my need for access completely. I have tried using the Microsoft Access driver when setting up a System DSN to the converted ODB, but this does fail.
Questions are inside > You mention you can use many DBMS drivers that will connect over ODBC, > however I would like to convert my Access databases to ODB, you mean to the internal HSQL DB? > then use ODBC to connect through to them which would replace my need for > access completely. What do you want to do via the ODBC connection? > I have tried using the Microsoft Access driver when setting up a System DSN > to the converted ODB, but this does fail. Do you want to connect to an Access database? I think it is better to discuss these things on the mailing list users@dba.openoffice.org
Wow, this would be great. I've been searching and searching for an ODBC driver that will allow me to connect to my OpenOffice Base database. I've also seen lots of other people searching for this exact thing as well. I know how to work with ODBC drivers, and am fainting at the thought of trying to wrap my mind around how to connect to my .odb otherwise.
