Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 497
granularity / coarseness of dissolve is too big
Last modified: 2016-10-11 22:37:49 UTC
Create a presentation with a slide containing a large rectangle (filled with colour) use the dissolve effect when it appears. The size of the blocks in which the dissolve creates the objects are rather large, coarse rectangles that do not look very good on a large screen, and significantly less good than other competitive office products. can the resolution be - say - doubled, but with the time persiod staying the same?
Yes, a change would improve the dissolve-effect. We should change it as object- and slide-effect. And for the object-effect the granularity should be adjusted according to the size of the object (getting more fine/coarse the smaller/bigger the object is; upper limit should be the resolution for the screen).

seems to be solveable with our new presentation engine, doesnt it?
Yes, but this is a feature request. Along the way, reduced the prio to 4.
Fixed in cws_src680_presentationengine01.
Sorry, had to back that fix out. Performance currently does not allow for too fine a resolution here.
Nearly 3 years later.... might it be time to revisit this? I patched my binary (that was fun!) to test out 64x64 dissolves (to match the appearance of another well known presentation tool) and the performance on my (fairly new) machine was quite adequate. It would be nice to at-least make 64x64 optional for improved compatibility with what my colleagues use.
Sounds reasonable -> 2.x
set target to 3.x according to http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Target_3x
@af: Thanks for taking a look. This is fixed with the ogl transitions; now we only need this working for win32 & mac. ;)
