Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 49997
Image pasted as Bitmap is bigger than inserted image
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:31:22 UTC
Problem was discovered with an image inserted in Draw that I wanted to copy into a Writer document. Steps to reproduce (OOo 1.9.100) : 1 Create new Writer document 2 insert image Dolomite.jpg (attachment in this Issue) 3 select the image and copy to clipboard 4 put cursor lower in the page, then paste as Bitmap Look : the second image is greater than the first. Other kinds of paste give images of same dimensions as the inserted image. Repeat same steps in OOo 1.1 : all images have same dimensions.
Created attachment 26650 [details] Nice image of Dolomites (North Italy)
MRU->CL: pasting a graphic via "paste special" as Bitmap, it larger than the source graphic. It is the same behaviour in Writer and Draw.
The picture-size as it is shown is not the real picture-size. The picture has still 600 pixels width with 200dpi in the unzipped source. I see a general problem how OOo calculates picture-size. My system has 120dpi in the WinXp system and 110% scaling in OOo Tools - Optionns - OOo - View. I get a shown size of 4.54 inch, which seems to be calculated this way: Taking 600 pixels with 120dpi system setting equals to 5 inch. Divide this through 110% OOo setting you will get the 4.54 inch. Changing the setting in WinXP or the scaling in OOo results in a different shown picture-size. The same problem comes up, if you export a drawing to bmp-format. The number of pixels the exported bitmap gets, depends on the WinXP system setting and on OOo scaling-settings. In my case 4 inch drawing will be exported to 4*120*110% pixels=528 pixels; 96dpi WinXP setting and 100% OOo scaling would result in a bitmap of 384 pixels.
