Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 509
WW6: linked file not imported (and included contents not displayed)
Last modified: 2003-12-06 14:52:32 UTC
Bugdoc: the link to a file is not imported. (Bugdoc will be delivered via E-Mail) MRU->CMC: So the target file is not available (as in our sample) please check if it´s possible to restore the last view, so that we can tell SUN about the status of the import of such documents Tracker ID: #83001 BugTraq ID: #4383054 SBA: In the Word file, the linked file is included, therefore Word can display it. This was not done with "file include" but with the print merge function od MS Word. To get the "included" file data (a table) visible with SO 5.2, one has to add "WW=0x40" in the [user] section of the soffice.ini before restarting StarOffice. The result of this extra line is that all field names (and their contents when the document was saved) are imported as plain text when a Word document is opened. Remark: I posted the above findings into the evaluation field of the bugtraq bug.
The field involved is not implemented, I can handle it the same as insert file but then we have the issue that the file linked to does not actually exist so when we "auto update" like we do on loading a normal word document that includes another then the content will remain blank. It should be possible to retain the original text of the document in the sw field so that on not being able to update the file then the original content would be shown instead. I'll look into it.
Now handle WW6 INCLUDE field the same as WW8 INCLUDETEXT field. And fill in default content for file link sections so as to retain the fallback content that word stores in the fields. So we can restore the last view now.

Fix works in 630a.
Closed, because fixed already.
