Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 57423
improve text positioning for aligning to scanned forms
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:37:07 UTC
Hi, I've just filled in a form by using a gif as a background in OOo Draw and found two related problems; the form was a traditional form with boxes for each character to write in. 1) When you select the text tool and click on the top corner of the box you might hope that the text would then be in the right position - but this is rarely the case since the font normally has a bit of space at the top. 2) Even with a non-proportional font it is difficult to get the font size and spacing to correspong exactly with the size and spacing of the boxes on a particular form. I suggest what would be nice would be something that let you 'measure' a box and set the font characteristics based off that box. So I would see it that you would select this tool and click on the top left of the first box on a row and then click on the bottom right of the same box and then the top left of the next box (to cope with spaces between boxes). That would then set font size and spacing appropriately.
Reassigned.
