Description Unknown 2002-06-19 15:40:51 UTC
Select a block of text. Then attempt to reduce the size of the selection by
holding shift and clicking within the already selected range. This should
reduce the current selection to be from the cursor to where you clicked. At the
moment it does nothing.

Thanks for posting Chuck.

I'm going to mark this as an enhancement feature request.

Duplicated on Win NT, OO 1.0

Inside Word 2000, the user is able to do what Chuck described.

Basically select a chunk of text. If you hold down the Shift key and
click on various parts of the selected text, you will resize your
selection.

Seems like a defect to me: every other Windows app behaves correctly.
Even selections made inside OO dialogue boxes can be decreased this
way.

But I'm sure there are bigger fish to fry at the mo'...

I fully agree:
This is indeed an intuitive behavior that OO.org lacks.

The workaround is to click outside the selection, hold the mouse
button pressed and "drag" the selection's end to the desired position.

I strongly advocate to integrate this.
Reassigned to Christian.

This issue is a defect. Not an enhancement request. It has been pending since 2002. Actually Impress does it right. Weird
