Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 61762
Add option to convert ALL Numerals based on lingual context (autocorrect/autoformat)
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:35:17 UTC
Could you please add "numerals based on context" feature to OOo. This feature does exist in M$ Office. Not sure about this but I think it was also in OOo v1.x For example, on a single document, I want the following: I want that when I write (letters and words of course) in English language, the numerals used will be Arabic. And when I write in Arabic language, the numerals used will be Hindi. All in the SAME document By the way, numerals used in Arabic language are Hindi numerals. B.S. Let me know if I wasn't clear.
In the tabpage "Format.Numberings.options" in the box "Numbering" there should be an option called "Native numbering". This should cover your desire. Of course you must have enabled CTL in your Language options.
Closed.
Sir, that option is for listing only... (correct me if I am wrong). What I am talking about is a feature that cover ANY numerals (not just the numbered listing) in any doc. Besides that, it check (wisly) the context of writing. I will give you another example: Now, I am writing an Arabic document and I'm using Hindi numerals with it. When I open OOo documentation, I see the Hindi numerals used in the documentaion instead of the Arabic numerals. Context (or Native) should be put alongside (Arabic, Hindi and System) because it should be there and its needed to be there. I allways write docs in booth languages (Arabic and English). in the same document. so please, sir, I need this feature.
OK, now I understand. Reopening issue.
Reassigned to requirements. Desired is an option which adapts all numerals in a text (not only auto-numberings) into their format regarding the lingual context e.g. when formatting a text from English to Arabic character format.
Think you so much people.... you are kings... But I have one very lettel thing to add; the format of those context numerals. I mean things like the font name used. Hindi numerals should take the formating used in Arabic words. And Arabic numerals should take the formating used in English words. Example: In the same document, suppose that I have choosed the font to be used with English text to be Tahoma while Arabic text is using Arial. The resulting numerals formatting should be: Tahoma for Arabic numerals. Arial for Hindi numerals.
setting keywords. Since this sounds like a job for autocorrect/autoformat (similar to typographic/custom quotes), I extended the summary accordingly
Can you at least for now add this feature: Making Hindi numerals to use CTL font formating just like how micro$oft did in there Office. I think you know that Hindi numerals are used only by CTL languages. This will really solve some of problems regarding the formating of Arabic text.
