Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 65074
Performance for printing documents
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:44:54 UTC
The speed of printing big documents is too high. Compared to Word, OOo is two times slower. This is a major problem for many big companies (10.000 and more employees) while evaluating OOo. This is problematic in particular during mail merge when the user wants to print the result. This really is an important issue.
Reassigned to HI.
pagalmes, can you please try OOo 2.2 please as that version is much faster. and can you please attach the documents so we can try and confirm it ? Thanks
Watch to issue 76853.
For sure, I should provide a test case to reproduce the behaviour. I can't provide a test case today, but I try to do it next week.
Here is a test document. Try printing it from OOo () it will take much more time that if you convert it and print it from Word.
Created attachment 46483 [details] A test file
You can test it with a virtual printer (pdfcreator...)
10 and more employees is not a "big" company; however, the impact on small businesses (which cannot afford MS Word) is arguably more serious than that on large ones (which can afford MS Word).
question: did you mean "10" employees or "10,000" employees?
