Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 68282
different sorting of help content entries on windows, linux
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:31:32 UTC
I use OpenOffice.org on both platforms - Microsoft Windows and GNU/Linux. I have no idea how this really works, but main entries of help content are displayed in different order. It's really annoying when you get accustomed to one order and ... Look at my screenshots.

What is different but should not be different, and what is Windows/Linux specific? I only see two different language versions in your samples. If you mean the contents of the Contents page, this is contained in the *.tree files which are can be translated as every translator thinks is best.
Look at the order of the main entries (Contents page, -cs version): - Windows - first entry is "Textove dokumenty" - Linux - first entry is "Instalace"

Look at the third attachment. Help window in front comes from Linux version and help window in back comes from Windows version from VMWare.
fpe, please research how we can ensure the same order for translated *.tree file lines as in the english source
The sequence of top level entries is not determined by the tree files since these entries come from multiple tree files. It's a question of what sequence these tree files are read by the application. Peter Burow may know.
pb -> abi: please take over. The help app doesn't sort these entries.

->2.x due to limited resources, P3 is also questionable as this task probably does not match the P3 Priority condition: "P3 marks non- trivial problems which probably affect a noticeable number of users. I doubt that many users use OOo on multiple platforms. Anyway keeping P3 for now.
