Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 70995
Temp space location not obeying configuration
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:48:14 UTC
Temporary space for database operations is using resources in the Windows User Profile (default), even though Open Office is configured to use Temp space elsewhere. In my case Temp is set to D:\temp but opening a large database results in swamping "c:\Documents ...\user..." until it crashes (I have only 2GBytes free on C:). Program Install Paths are standard. All document paths are set to non-default (network) paths. Palettes, Templates, User Configuration and User-defined dictionaries are the only paths that remain pointing to the User Profile. I am reduced to using Access (I hope temporarily)- Bob von Knobloch.
Confirming - in Tools - Option - OO.o - Paths - Temporary Files I have specified some other folder, closed Office (incl QS), started Base nad it seems to use system-default temp path (%temp% or %tmp%) for some of the temp files. Repro steps: 1. Open file manager window to both new and default temp folder. Clean both from any old files and arrange so that both are visible simultaneuosly. 2. Generate big dataset in Calc (table 15000x20 should be fine), add table header. 3. Select data in Calc, Edit - Copy. 4. Start Base, Create new db, click Tables, right-click - Paste. 5. In Copy table wizard click "Definition and data", "Create primary key", Next, add all columns to the right, Next, Create. 6. Watch default temp folder (circled in red on attached screenshot) - you should see one file to be created (and several in new temp location, circled in green). 7. As soon as import is finished (can take 15 minutes to complete) that one file disappears.
