Description tora3 2006-11-21 16:36:04 UTC
Current Writer does not have an alignment Distributed that Word
and other Japanese word processors have.

Availability of tool bar buttons is shown in the following table.

Application Left Center Right Justify Distributed
 ==================== ======= ======= ======= ======= ===========
 Word 2003 English x x x x
 Word 2003 en+ja *1 x x x x x
 Word 2003 Japanese x x x x
 Writer 2.1 x x x x

*1: Japanese has been added to English version of Word 2003 with
Start - All Programs - Microsoft Office - Microsoft Office
Tools - Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings

An alignment 'Distributed' spreads out every letter in a line by
the same distance from the beginning of line to the end of line.
It is actually similar to the result of the following workaround.

Workaround (similar, but slightly different for Western text):
 1. Format - Paragraph - Alignment
 2. Choose Justified from the list of Options
 3. Specify Last line: Justified

Since both Word and PowerPoint have this functionality, this issue
might be for the framework first.

An illustration will be added.

Isn't this what the text-grid does?
