Description pagalmes.lists 2007-04-19 00:12:27 UTC
When pasting the following document in Calc, it does not behave the same if I
copy the table from IE (does not behave as expected) or Firefox (behaves nicely).

See screenshots.

This may be related somehow to issue 76412.

Hi,

not a defect. Firefox places HTML code into the clipboard, IE also RTF, RTF is
the best choice for normal Office content like formatted text from Writer to
Calc, so it's the default paste format. If you don't like the result, use Paste
Special HTML Format and you get the same result as if you use firefox to copy from.

Well, I suppose that every user when using IE to paste in Calc would expect that
the table would be pasted in different cells.

Simple users will never know about the special paste formats. When they use
Excel, things work as one would expect. They will thus conclude than OOo is buggy.

Any idea how this could be changed to behave nicely when pasting in Calc?
Enhance the RTF filter in Calc? Is there already an issue about it?

Confirming and changing to enh.

Pierre-Andre,
I suggest changing summary to better reflect your idea (like "Make Paste
intelligent - in Calc, if clipboard contains table, paste as HTML").

P.S. Paste special allows one to select most sutable format.
