Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 77402
'Keep Ratio' in Picture dialog box calculates relative size wrongly
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:20:11 UTC
This is a serious bug in scaling pictures with aspect ratio fixed. Steps to reproduce: 1. ctrl-N for new Writer doc 2. insert a picture (I used a JPG file off my desktop) 3. double-click image. 4. click 'as character' and click OK. 5. double-click picture 6. click 'relative' under 'height' 7. click 'relative' under 'width' 8. click OK 9. double-click picture 10. in the 'width' box, enter 10, then hit ENTER. Result: picture has scaled in the X direction only, and has not kept aspect ratio fixed. Just in case it matters, I will attach my test image.

Just wanted to tell you that in OO 2.2 in Windows XP this error(?) does not occur.
I tested this on Fedora Core 6 with Open Office 2.0. The bug exists on that platform also, so it's not just an Ubuntu thing.
Also reproducible on Windows. MRU->OS: insert a picture into document, in the properties, activate "keep aspect ratio" and both relative sizes, enter 10% for width -> height will be calculated wrongly. This may be related to issue 25391.
Other method to reveal the bug: (image should be not sqaure, e.g. with 3:4 aspect ratio, not 1:1) insert image dbl click on it ensure Keep ratio turned on check Relative checkbox near Width or Height (or even both) (here is still all ok with image aspect, it can be easily verified by clicking ok) input new value of width or height (doesn't matter) and u will see that image is rescaled to be square :( OOo 3, also OOo 2.4.1, Gentoo GNU/Linux, x86_64 This is very stupid BUG!
