Description Regina Henschel 2008-06-04 07:55:56 UTC
Only one section can be active in the task pane. But the others are shown as big
buttons and occupy the space that is needed badly for the active section.
Therefore you do not see a whole section but have to scroll in using it.

Proposal: Use buttons beneath the title bar to switch between the sections like
it is down in the style&formatting window.

I know, that I can switch of the sections with the "view"-dropdown. But that is
very unhandy and does not persist.

Environment:
Version: OOo-dev 3.3.0 DEV300m78 (Build: 9501)
OS: Win XP Professional SP3

Though the enhancement seems to help the user specially in ‘Custom Animation’
tab, there are at least three workarounds which are possible in the current
build.

1. The user can increase the width of the Tasks pane.
2. The user can undock the Tasks pane and expand its width without reducing the
width of the slide.
3. The user can remove tasks which are not required in the Tasks pane.

Notes:
At resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, the need for scrollbar arises with just six
objects to be animated.

At resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, the need for scrollbar is felt the most.

At resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels, it seems that there is enough space for each
of the tabs.
In each of the above cases, the Impress window was expanded fully.

Having the current layout makes sure that the user is not forced to learn a new
task. As the workarounds are easily available, I feel there is no need to
implement this enhancement.
